Evidently Friendships are a Oneway Street

In the past year I have faced adversity over and over again. Yet, I am still a true friend to many. I thought I had a few really close friends. That was finally put to a test. My Father passed away in the last month and I was there for the whole thing, basically by myself. I missed roughly about an entire 4 weeks from work. Fortunately I had 4 unpaid days to take of the 6 that I was forced into taking, even though it saved absolutely no money. As a matter of fact it actually losses them money to not pay me on several levels. We get roughly 24 days a year of vacation and several for sick time as well. Funny thing is, someone who claims to be my "Friend" started questioning it. Not to me of course.

Also, for some reason no one seemed to realize the seriousness of my Father's illness even after we had to med flight him to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. It wasn't until I announced his death did it actually sink in to people. Geez, I knew the seriousness before I jumped a flight down to AZ. Hell, we about lost him in the first 24 to 48 hours.

So, some of my "REALLY" good friends. Did not show up at either the visitation, funeral or even send a freakin' card. However they were more than willing to tell me all their little petty problems and want me to drop everything to fix it for them. At times I feel like a freakin' bank. I end up just shelling out money/time and getting nothing in return. Sort of like the home mortgage crisis. Lending money to people that had no means or intentions of ever paying it back.

Now one of said friends will not respond to my e-mails, phone calls or other messages. All because I said I was probably too busy with dealing with all my personal issues to help them with something. Well, fine! I got along without them before, I can do it again.

Brush with greatness # 1

I was headed home from Nashville when our flight was delayed to CHI. I went to find out what would happen if we missed the connecting flight to CR. On my way back through security I saw Ozzy's Lead Guitarist at the time Zakk Wylde (BLS). I waited for him to close up his guitar case of his famous confederate flag LP. I asked him for an autograph. However, he thought he was late for a flight back to Cali. He said sure, come with me and we started walking towards his gate. That is when my buddy was looking at me like what the heck are you doing with Zakk. He saw one of those people mover carts and said jump on and went to his gate. He then realized he was actually 2 hours early for his flight. The whole EST/WST time had him all messed up. He looks at us and says now what. So, we headed to the bar. He bought the first pitcher of beer and then each time it was empty he would look at one of us and say your turn. We sat there for almost 2 hours. Hey started talking about his wife and kid. So, I asked him which supermodel was he married to. Then my buddy asked him how many hours a day he practices and he laughed. He says, "Man I just play!". A little later he started showing us pictures from his wallet. When pulled out this picture of his wife, she was on the beach at sunset with a long flowing dress on. So, I asked him, "So which supermodel is this again?" He say, "Will you stop with the supermodel allready". I got my picture taken with him and he signed one of my business cards on the back and the name of his band at the time, Pride and Glory & the year. I got it custom matted and framed with the business card inlaided below the pic. Pretty cool guy and very down to earth. I was able to see him a year so ago @ the Val Air in DSM. He was with Black Label Society, man that guy can tear it up on a guitar and even on piano. His father was a professional musician as well. Very cool experience.

Most Hilarious Cellphone Ringtone

There is an Asian Dude in our building that has "Don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like me!" as his ringtone. Everytime I hear it, it is all I can do to not just burst out laughing. That would be one wicked ugly girlfriend.

Funniest "Real" E-mail I've Ever Received

Hi there,
I've been searching for anything about the band Big Pig. I can't find anything on it, until I came to your homepage on it. But still really didn't find what I was looking for. I'd like to buy it, and can't find it stores, and when request to have it ordered, they can't find it either. I've never heard any of their music, but my lover has....He heard it in a gay nightclub in Detroit, called Backstreet....a long time ago. He likes the song....I can't break away. I'd like to be the one to find it for him. If you can at all help me find it, that would be great. Thanks a bunch, my email address is ******@aol.com
sincerely, Jimmy
